Carbonation

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

How are you guys finding the consistency of carbonation between kegs and brews? Just drinking a Coopers Pale after 3 weeks seems a little light on for carbonation. Drinkable. Using the supplied Brewprint bar.

What effects the carbonation?

The bottles seem more carbonated than the kegs. IMG_20201108_175649803.thumb.jpg.95ac52ce612068c34ab53313f8e94c43.jpg

Hi Robert. Three weeks can be a bit “weak” on carbonation, depending upon storage temperature. It will approve as the brew matures. The kegs can take a bit longer due to the larger volume and again the storage temperature. If bottles or kegs are stored 16C (61F) or lower carbonation will slow and take longer.
Cheers Mark

Thanks Mark. That makes sense, the storage temp hasn't been consistently over 16 degree stored in a cupboard on a concrete floor in the middle of a double brick house. Average temps up here in the Hunter Valley have only been mid 20's . As summer kicks in and the temp rises .

You guys that live in older climates how do you store in winter? Heater mats!

When I bottle/bottled place in a box and put an old jumper on top or blanket. However I normally allowed 6 weeks before consumption so things generally ok.

Hi fellow Droiders

Just got home , to see my 6 week old Coopers XPA leaking from the beer valve. Couldn't hand tighten, got half a turn with the shifter. Just started to morning. Obviously no carbonation issues here. Thermometer was reading 23 degrees. Strange how this has happened so late in the carbonation cycle.
