Big Josh
Hi All, I bought my first droid a couple of weeks ago and started my first brew 7 days ago - the American Pale Ale. Up to now I've been receiving what I'd call normal notifications - Fermentation Start, Ready to Dry Hop etc... But today my droid suddenly started cooling and the app says "temperature change" to 4 degrees. I've read a bit about cold crashing being part of the normal brewpint program - is that what's happening here? Has the droid detected EOF and just sent the thing straight to storage temp to cold crash it? I'm certain I didn't do it manually by accident... Hi Josh, Welcome to the forum What is happening is a normal part of the dry hop cycle, it will go to 4 degrees for two days and then come back up when it gets to EOF, then you can bottle or keg. Yes it is cold crashing and it will help flocculate the yeast to make a clearer brew. Personally, I like to let it sit a day after EOF but there is really nothing wrong with bottling straight away
Big Josh
Excellent, thanks Rob. My bottling gear isn’t arriving until Monday so I’ll be able to give it at least a day after EOF I reckon!
