Cold over warm?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

kegged my first brew but believe Darwin NT is too warm to leave for the 2 weeks.

Temps range from 30-38 during the day.
I have set up an old fridge and left it at the lowest temp.

Fridge temp is around 10 degrees.
Would this be better to store for the 2 weeks than the heat?

Regards,

Luke.

Hi Luke. Did you keg into the BrewFlo kegs or stainless steel types? If using the BrewFlo kegs then the temp of your fridge at 10C is too low for effective carbonation. Around 18C is ideal. However I’m here in Adelaide and have always left my bottles and kegs at the ambient room temps which hit 38C+ during summer and the 40’s during heat waves. Haven’t had a broblem.

When you thing about it bottles, cans and kegs from the brewery sit on a truck with no air conditioning and are drop off at hotels where they sit outside until moved to a cool room. All in extreme temperatures during the year.
