Paul84 Posted April 11, 2020 Report Posted April 11, 2020 So dropped the Shadow Hill Porter in my droid today whilst I wait for my next delivery . A hope blend from Brewart sounds interesting. This I think might all go in bottles to wait for Winter 😉
Paul84 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Report Posted April 13, 2020 So I woke up to a very healthy looking brew this morning . Was spewing out right infront of me 😮

Clean up before it turns to honey comb.(Robs vinegar clean works). As a 6.5%-er, as your bottling I’d leave 24hrs after fermentation end to ensure yeast cleans up the brew and settles. Sorry for laughing but, no I’m not. Lol
Paul84 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Report Posted April 13, 2020 I did this morning and then came home to this. I have 3 hope pouches for it so will likely leave to sit for 2 days before bottling 🙂 . No more bottle bombs haha

No more bottle bombs haha Nah, what you had before wasn't a bottle bomb, just a weakened bottle that sheared with a little bit of pressure. I had one a week or so back, one day after bottling one of the bottles did the same thing. None of the other bottles have done this from the same box, don't stress too much. 1
Paul84 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Report Posted April 13, 2020 Yeah thats what I assumed had happened. I suppose you will get a dud every now and again..i am just glad I had my smart hat on and they are in a big storage tub so clean up wasnt so hard. Dont want my brew room to smell like the back room of a dive bar lol 1

Paul84 Posted April 22, 2020 Author Report Posted April 22, 2020 Bottled this brew today . Straight out of the keg .... 🤘🤘🤘. If only i had an Ikegger i would force carb and get into straight away haha . Though i do think a couple of weeks will help this as atm its very hop heavy at the forefront and would like to see the beer flavors develop . 11 swing tops and a sneaky 6 pack lol 1
Dustin Frothman Posted August 17, 2021 Report Posted August 17, 2021 I put this one on last night. The "spew bag" is at the ready and now utilising @Paul84 's excellent peg technique. I added 250g of maltodextrin. The Ruby Porter that I tried this with tasted great from the tester bottle and had right mouthfeel so I thought I'd try it again. 1
Robert Pretty Posted August 17, 2021 Report Posted August 17, 2021 Got this sitting at just over 3 weeks in secondary. All bottled in long necks. What's the drinking on this? 8 weeks+. How does it compare to the Ruby. Which I loved. 1
Paul84 Posted August 17, 2021 Author Report Posted August 17, 2021 At 8 weeks it will be a cracker. Been a while since I enjoyed it , but i remember this being very floral from the hops at the start but they mellowed slightly and allowed for the more stouty flavors to develop. This was a good beer 😁
Dustin Frothman Posted September 2, 2021 Report Posted September 2, 2021 I bottled 4 Coopers Longnecks of this yesterday and then split the remaining 7 or so litres between two kegs as I've had a bit of a bad run with leaky kegs again lately. I'm planning on putting the bottles away for a while as an experiment. I ended up leaving this brew in the Droid for quite a bit longer than planned following the liquid hops infusion as I wasn't keen on creating any bottle bombs. The sample tasted great. Put the Coopers XPA on in it's place. I'm perhaps a couple of weeks behind but am attempting to brew in line with the seasons. Almost all of my Brewart kegs are full now and am about to try kegging into stainless steel, so it will be interesting to see how that experiment goes. 1
Dustin Frothman Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 6 months secondary - really rich and has a distinct vanilla flavour. A very nice porter. Head retention is ok but could be a little better. I reckon I’ll brew this again and age for at least 6 months next time and only in glass bottles. 2
Anthony Dalton Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 Hey all, Could not help myself; bottled this a couple of weeks ago. Cracked a bottle tonight; it’s bloody fantastic, silky smooth with a nice creamy head, vanilla undertones; it is going to be hard but I will try and let it sit another month or two. Really impressive. So glad I’ve got a couple of droids now, hopefully I’ll get distracted by another recently kegged or bottled drop next week. Cheers! 2
Ariel Lopez Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Hello all Wanted to ask on this brew it says : A hop blend is required for this brew, so add the hop sachets to the BeerDroid at the End Of Fermentation notification and let infuse as if you were bottling.. and it has 2 H2 and 1 H7 . Am i adding all 3 when the beer droid prompts me for infusion or do I add the h2s directly to the brewflow.kegs and just h7 to the beerdroid ?
Steve Gyldenvand Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Hi Ariel. Either way would work for you I suppose, but personally, I'd just add all the sachets directly to the droid a day before kegging. I hope you like this one. My wife is seriously into porters, and I made her a batch of this brew infused with espresso for that added coffee kick, and she just loves it. Sláinte! 1
Ariel Lopez Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Thanks Steve, I added coffee extract to the irish stout but I added too much . Thankfully I just added it to one keg . How much did you add ? I think im going to go with 25% of the amount I added and just to one keg so I can compare just how I did the stout
Ariel Lopez Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Do you know if the droid notified you ? Or you just waited till it was ready for keg then added and waited another day
Steve Gyldenvand Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 (edited) Ariel, when I got the kegging notification I added the hops along with 1/2 cup (about 120 grams) of ground espresso beans in a large stainless steel mesh hop bomb directly into the droid, then bottled 3 days later.
